Daily report (2026-08-22)

1. Summary

Today work has consisted of finishing up yesterday’s new issue.

Beyond what I’ve already mentioned, there’s nothing else for me to comment on. There have been no further search term refinements, so the final 2700 results I came up with were the only ones I went through.

Additionally, though, I did review every file where a match popped up from top to bottom, in case there was some field that seemed like padding (and, upon further research, turned out to, indeed, be padding) even though it didn’t match the search regex.

That took me all day to finish up, but I think it’s now done. I have run it through CI twice, and have catched a typo while spelling out the Padding field, and a bad decision on my side while replacing a certain field in siginfo_t for Solaris-like platforms. I wrongly assumed that some field was padding. The way it’s handled in this set of targets is not really great (nor maintenable,) but I decided against changing that in this patch as it’s plenty large as is.

2. Blockers

None.

3. Plan for the week

Tomorrow morning I should have a PR open with the changes I finished today. While waiting for CI to finish, I already prepared the write-up for the PR, so it really should only take a few minutes.

Afterwards, I plan on checking whether my mentor has provided feedback on the GSoC work product, and if not, then I’ll just submit what I have. Today I also filled in all the little text fields and questions from the final evaluation.

Once I’m done with that, I’ll pick up another issue in the 1.0 milestone and start working on it.
